This is a 100 question test. It is a random bunch of questions that popped into my mind. |

How do you check for Clinical Alarm effectiveness? IMHO this needs to be a NURSING function (as well as Biomed.) This is a survey for users to complete related to their environment. Clinical Alarms are part of the environment. Your PM program is not enough. Though this is no longer a specific JCAHO goal, they surely will ask about it. |

This is a Word Document that shows how space is designed for hospital Engineering Departments and Biomedical Departments. I am not even sure where it came from anymore. |

This acronym list is the work of Jeffery.Kabachinski@med.ge.com. Thanks to Jeff for allowing it to be available to all of us. |

Power Point NIBP Presentation created by James Hays. Deals with Mercury, Accuracy, etc. Thanks James! |

A Sample management plan. JCAHO liked the format of this plan at our recent visit. All E.C. Plans follow this same format. |

A sample of a list of clinical alarms in an institution. Our surveyor was OK with the fact that Biomed was not responsible for everything. The fact that we had a committee of folks identify the clinical alarms and SOMEONE was responsible for their testing was OK with him. |

Form1, Form2, Form3, Form4, Form5, Form6, Form7, Form8, Form9. |
Liability release forms when selling, donating equipment. Thanks to many Biomedtalk members for this information. |

NEW 1/4/2003 - JCAHO allows "DATA DRIVEN" inspection intervals. Here is a chart to be used as a suggested approach to determine such intervals. It needs some work but it is a pretty good start. Put some 8.5 x 14 paper in your COLOR inkjet printer and print away! |

This is the policy that goes with the above documentation. Unfortunately like so many other things in my life, it may need some updating. |

I think we all need to justify our jobs a bit. Here is some data that could be used as a sample annual report. It could be sent to administration, the safety committee or maybe just your boss. (It may take a while to download. |

For intermittent power loss or power light blinks, see the repair instructions that were provided to me by a Biomedtalk member. Thanks again! |

Vendors are to sign to verify that equipment meets specs for trial/rental equipment. This is the form we use. If we buy it a full operational verification is completed. To do a full operational test to our standards would be impossible for all trial/loaner equipment. |
|
|
A form to be used for rental equipment. The donor asked that I keep their name confidential. Actually by now I forgot who even sent it but THANKS anyway. |
|
|
This is a new equipment evaluation form. The title "VERDICT" relates to the acronym of items to look into. It is a must see. Thanks to Ed Hamilton for this information. |

Information provided to you by Rich Ogg. This has been a hot download recently. Thanks Rich! |

Binseng's letter about the CCE examination as AAMI no longer hosts the exam. |

I have no idea why this is even here. I guess it is always good to look at someone else's format. |

Just some ideas of things to send to the Safety Committee on a regular basis. Like it or not, JCAHO will probably ask to see something. |
|
|
This is just a form that we have to control some over zealous department, physician or who ever will not give you the time to do a quality pre-acceptance on a new device. FYI, no one ever signed it though we have presented it about 5 times in the last few years. |
|

Tom Quinn took a lot of time to create this report on medical device safety. It makes for some interesting reading. Thanks Tom! |

One of those things that you just have to do. |

Same as above, 3 years later. (Time flies when you are having fun.) |

Just some job descriptions. |

Provided by a Paul Kelley, a Biomedtalk member. This is a spreadsheet of various tasks and hazards associated with that task. Probably should be in a policy somewhere. |

Links to a web page of manufacturers who do not provide service information to in-house departments. This will be the DEMISE of our profession if we allow this to continue. |

Thanks to Dean Skillicorn, these tools will help you talk the lingo of administration.. Unfortunately it is not good enough to just keep the departments happy by just fixing everything, now we have to have some business experience. |
